The opening establishes identity through the names and linguistic evolution of Odin: Odinn in Old Norse, Wodan in West Germanic or Old High German, and Allfodr meaning Allfather. The progression from I was to I am invokes the continuum of the archetype.
The second part calls upon Odin's essential mythic extensions to witness the rite: the ravens Huginn representing thought and Muninn representing memory, the spear Gungnir, and the world tree Yggdrasill.
