About Alchemical In Our Practice
Alchemical Metals In our ritual craft, the use of metals and essential oils transcends simple materiality, they are conduits of ancient power, vessels for the forces we seek to command and embody. Each metal and oil carries a distinct vibrational signature that aligns with cosmic forces, planetary energies, and elemental archetypes. Understanding these correspondences enriches your Work with profound layers of resonance and effectiveness. By correctly aligning the matter of your ritual with the energy you wish to manifest, you create an unbroken circuit, allowing the spiritual to descend into the physical with undeniable power.
Why Alchemical Metals
Alchemical metals are not merely physical substances but are imbued with planetary energies and symbolic qualities. Each metal serves as a bridge between the material and spiritual worlds, amplifying ritual intent and focusing energetic currents. They are the most dense, physical representations of the planetary forces, acting as powerful anchors for the Work. To the discerning practitioner, a metal object is not just a tool, but a focused lens through which the light of a planet may be captured and fixed.

Gold (Sun)
As the metal of the Sun, Gold embodies divine power, success, illumination, and supreme achievement. It is the physical manifestation of solar sovereignty and perfected spirit. Gold is used in rituals to invoke solar energy, attracting prosperity, leadership, and victory, while protecting against spiritual depletion. It represents the Telos of all alchemical processes, the incorruptible, perfect state of being.
Practical Application: To create a talisman for authority and success, acquire a small piece of gold, a pendant or coin. On a Sunday during the hour of the Sun, place it upon your altar and anoint it with a solar oil like Frankincense. Hold your hands over it and channel the energy of the Sun into the metal, charging it with your specific intent for leadership or recognition. Wear or carry it when that authority is needed.
Silver (Moon)
Silver is the mirror of the Moon, corresponding to intuition, reflection, mystery, and psychic receptivity. It acts as a lunar mirror, reflecting subtle energies and enhancing psychic sensitivity in workings of divination, dream craft, and spirit communication. Silver’s mutable, fluid nature ties it to the tides of the inner world and the constant flow of Gnōsis.
Practical Application: To prepare for a scrying session, fill a silver, or silver-plated, chalice or bowl with pure water. The silver of the vessel acts as a psychic amplifier for the water within. Place it under the light of the Full Moon, allowing the metal to absorb the lunar energy and attune the entire apparatus for receiving visions.
Copper (Venus)
As the metal of Venus, Copper is a conduit for energies of love, beauty, harmony, attraction, and artistic inspiration. It is used in talismans to promote harmony in relationships and to amplify the spells of love and reconciliation. Copper is a conductor of both heat and energy, symbolizing its role in the warm connection between souls.
Practical Application: For a spell to attract a new love, take a small sheet or disc of copper. On a Friday during the Waxing Moon, gently heat the copper over a candle flame and inscribe it with your own sigil for love, or the traditional sigil of Venus. Anoint it with rose oil and wrap it in a pink cloth, keeping it on your altar or person to draw Venusian energy to you.
Iron (Mars)
Iron is the metal of war, strength, protection, and raw, assertive will. It is the physical body of Martian energy, used in ritual tools and talismans for aggressive protection, banishing, and severing negative influences. Its sharp, hard nature cuts through confusion and fear, establishing firm boundaries.
Practical Application: To create a powerful protective ward for your property, take four old iron railroad spikes or large nails. On a Tuesday, take them to the four corners of your land. At each corner, drive a spike into the ground, declaring, “By the force of Mars and the strength of Iron, this boundary is sealed. Let no harm cross this line.”
Lead (Saturn)
The dense, heavy nature of Lead aligns it with Saturn, the principle of limitation, structure, discipline, and endings. It is a grounding metal used in workings of banishment, binding, and rituals of closure or transformation. Lead is often used to bring an end to cycles, forcing transformation through pressure and finality.
Practical Application: To bind an individual from causing you harm, take a small, thin sheet of lead. On a Saturday during the Waning Moon, inscribe the target’s name and the specific action you wish to stop them from taking. Fold the lead over onto itself, hammering it flat and saying, “As this lead is sealed, so are your actions bound.” Bury the packet far from your home.
Tin (Jupiter)
Tin is the metal of Jupiter, channeling the planet’s expansive energy for abundance, authority, wisdom, and growth. It is used in talismans and rituals to attract good fortune, prosperity, and success in endeavors involving leadership or expansion. Tin’s brightness reflects the optimistic, burgeoning nature of the Jovian force.
Practical Application: To create a money-drawing charm for your business, take a small tin box. Inside, place herbs associated with wealth like cinnamon and basil, along with a petition paper stating your financial goals. On a Thursday, seal the box with wax from a purple or green candle, asking Jupiter to expand your resources and fill the vessel you have created.
Mercury (Quicksilver)
Mercury is the metal of the planet Mercury, embodying communication, intellect, adaptability, and swift transformation. It is a fluid mediator between worlds and states of being, invoked for spells involving negotiation, travel, and rapid change. Its volatility symbolizes the power of thought and the fleeting nature of the moment.
Practical Application: Due to its extreme toxicity, physical mercury is never used. Instead, its power is invoked symbolically. To ensure success in a negotiation, draw the sigil of Mercury on a piece of parchment. On the reverse side, write the names of all parties involved and your desired outcome. Anoint the corners with a communication oil and carry it with you to the meeting.
