Returns & Duty Refunds
International Duty Recovery
Effective Date: November 28, 2025
SCG Witchery is operated by Charmes De Sorcellerie Du Québec, doing business as SCG Witchery (referred to as “SCG Witchery,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
When a refund is issued for a returned item, SCG Witchery refunds the transaction value of the product(s) purchased from our store. However, SCG Witchery cannot refund customs duties, import taxes, or border fees. These funds were collected directly by the government of the destination country, not by SCG Witchery.
Under international trade agreements (including USMCA), consumers who return imported goods are typically entitled to a refund of these duties from their local customs authority. While SCG Witchery cannot process this government refund on your behalf, we are committed to providing the specific documentation—such as a formal Credit Note and Proof of Return—required for you to file a successful claim with your local agency.
Recovering Import Duties: Claim Protocol
If you have returned an item and wish to claim a refund for the duties and taxes previously paid to your government, you must file a claim directly with your local customs authority (e.g., CBP in the USA, CBSA in Canada, or HMRC in the UK). Please follow these steps to compile your evidence and submit your claim.
1. Secure Proof of Export
When you ship the item back to SCG Witchery, you must retain the return shipping receipt and the tracking number. This is your legal proof that the merchandise has left your country and is no longer in your possession.
2. Obtain Proof of Refund
Wait until SCG Witchery has received your return and processed your refund. You will receive a formal Credit Note or Refund Confirmation Email. Save this document; it serves as proof to your government that the sale was cancelled and the funds for the product were returned to you.
3. Compile Original Documentation
Locate the original Customs Invoice or Payment Receipt that you received from the carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL, or Postal Service) when you first paid the duties. This document proves the amount of tax you originally paid.
4. Locate Your Local Claim Form
Navigate to your country’s customs authority website to download the specific form for "Duty Refund on Returned Goods."
USA: Search for "Drawback" or "Rejected Merchandise."
Canada: Search for "Casual Refund Program" (Form B2G).
UK: Search for "Claim for repayment of import duty" (Form C285).
5. Submit Your Claim
Submit the completed form along with your three key proofs (Proof of Export, Proof of Refund, and Original Customs Invoice) to the address listed on the government form. Once approved, the customs authority will issue a check or direct deposit for the duties you paid.

Shipping & Customs Liability
Standard Shipping & Import Duties
Effective Date: November 28, 2025
SCG Witchery is operated by Charmes De Sorcellerie Du Québec, doing business as SCG Witchery (referred to as “SCG Witchery,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
SCG Witchery covers the cost of standard shipping for all qualifying products. However, strictly adhering to international trade regulations, including the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA), it is impossible for SCG Witchery to predict or calculate specific border tariffs, import duties, or clearance fees imposed by foreign governments.
The determination of these costs remains the sole jurisdiction of the destination country's customs authority. Consequently, the client assumes full financial responsibility for any and all additional fees, tariffs, or taxes levied at the border prior to or upon delivery.
Receiving Your Shipment: Tracking & Customs Protocol
To ensure the timely release and delivery of your order, you must actively manage the tracking and customs clearance process. Please follow these steps to locate your item and settle any necessary fees.
1. Monitor Your Tracking Number
Upon dispatch, you will receive a shipment confirmation email containing a unique tracking number. You are required to actively monitor this number via the designated carrier's official website. Regular tracking is essential to identify when the package reaches the destination country.
2. Identify Customs Holds
Watch for tracking status updates indicating the package is "Held at Customs" or "Awaiting Payment." These alerts signify that the destination country's customs authority has assessed duties or taxes that must be paid before the item can be released.
3. Locate the Payment Notification
When duties are assessed, the carrier will issue a formal notification containing a specific reference number and the invoice amount. This notification typically arrives via:
Email: Sent to the contact address on file.
Physical Mail: Sent to the shipping address.
Door Hangtag: Left at the delivery location.
4. Settle Assessed Duties
Using the reference number from the notification, you must pay the outstanding fees to authorize the release of your goods.
Online Payment: Navigate to the carrier's secure online payment portal to pay digitally.
In-Person Payment: Visit the specified local collection facility to pay the fees directly.
5. Release for Delivery
Immediate payment of these charges authorizes the carrier to release the item. Once the transaction is cleared, the package will either be scheduled for final delivery or handed over to you at the pickup location.
